About

The Ruling Desk is an independent tech publication in English and Spanish. It covers phones and other gadgets, video games and the tech industry: what shipped, what it costs, what changed and what the evidence actually supports. Every material claim links to the document, report or review it comes from, so you can check it yourself.

Who runs it

The Ruling Desk is run by one person, its founder and editor. He chooses the topics, researches the sources, reviews every article before it is published and is responsible for everything on the site, corrections included. How articles are made

The editor researches each topic and gathers the sources. An AI model (Anthropic's Claude) drafts the article from those sources. He then reviews and edits the draft, checks its claims against the linked sources and publishes it. The Spanish edition is translated from the finished English article with the same tools and reviewed the same way. The Editorial Policy has the details.

Research, not lab testing

Most articles here are source-based analysis. They compare manufacturer specifications, filings, patents, official announcements, reporting and other people's reviews, and say where those sources agree, disagree or say nothing. They are not hands-on reviews, and each article says at the top which kind it is. When an article includes our own testing, it says so and describes what was tested, on what and when. When nobody has tested something yet, the article says that too.

Dates and corrections

Every article shows when it was published and when it was last meaningfully updated. When we get something wrong, the article is fixed and the fix is logged on Corrections, in both languages.

Independent, and free

The site has no sponsored content, affiliate links or ads, and no paywall. Nobody pays to be covered, and nobody pays to be left out.
