How The Ruling Desk uses information, and the choices available to you.
Last updated: October 2, 2026. This policy covers therulingdesk.com and its English and Spanish editions.
Google advertising: review stage
We have installed Google AdSense for site review. Auto ads is off and we have not added ad units, so ad serving is currently disabled. Loading the Google integration still connects your browser to Google and may set cookies, including a cookie used to test browser cookie support, even when no ad appears.
If advertising is enabled after approval, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google and its advertising partners may receive information such as your IP address, browser and device information, page URL, cookie identifiers and advertising interactions. Advertising cookies can support personalization, measurement and fraud prevention. Non-personalized advertising can also use cookies.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s advertising information. Where Google’s consent message is available, its partner list identifies the participating providers and links to their information. We do not send newsletter email addresses to AdSense.
Your advertising and cookie choices
We use Google’s consent-management service for advertising choices. Where the European message is available, you can consent, refuse or manage options, and later reopen it using “Privacy and cookie settings” at the bottom of the page. Google’s US state message, where available, provides a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” choice. These messages and controls may not appear until Google makes them available for this site; ad serving remains disabled during review.
If the settings link brings you here, Google’s controls are not available in your current browser session. You can manage personalized advertising through Google My Ad Center and participating providers through YourAdChoices. Browser settings can block or delete cookies and site storage. Deleting storage can also remove saved consent choices. These options do not promise to stop all data processing or all advertising.
Hosting, analytics and local storage
Cloudflare serves and protects this site, processing network requests, including IP addresses and browser information, to deliver pages and help prevent abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits and page performance. Cloudflare describes this analytics service as cookieless and says it does not track individual visitors across sites. This is separate from Google’s advertising integration and Cloudflare’s hosting and security services. We do not use Google Analytics.
Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under “theme”. Search uses a locally downloaded Pagefind index in your browser. Our site does not have user accounts or its own subscriber database.
Newsletter and contact
Our newsletter uses beehiiv. The email forms send the address you enter to beehiiv’s subscription page. On the home page and articles, the embedded signup service loads after your first page interaction, such as scrolling or a key press. That connects to beehiiv and can involve its cookies, device information and anti-abuse checks even before a subscription is completed. The footer form works without this embed or JavaScript.
We use your subscription address to send the newsletter, and each issue includes an unsubscribe link. beehiiv processes subscriber information for the publication and also operates its service under its own privacy policy. Google’s advertising consent controls do not manage beehiiv’s separate signup service. If you email us, we receive your address and the information you include so we can respond.
