The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date is January 26, 2027. Playground Games announced it on October 8, 2026, opened pre-orders on the PlayStation Store the same day, and said Premium Edition owners can start five days early, on January 21, when the game's first expansion also arrives on every platform. That puts the PS5 version eight months behind the May 19, 2026 launch on Xbox and PC, and a few weeks past the "later this year" window the studio was still promising in September.
Key takeaways
- Standard and Deluxe: playable on PS5 from January 26, 2027.
- Premium Edition: playable from January 21, 2027, the same day Expansion 1 launches on PS5, Xbox and PC.
- US prices on the PlayStation Store: US$69.99 Standard, US$99.99 Deluxe, US$119.99 Premium, as listed on October 9, 2026.
- Cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, plus a disc release.
- It's a slip. Playground said on September 7 that the PS5 version was coming "later this year." January 2027 misses that window, and the studio hasn't said why.
The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date and early access
Playground's PS5 announcement on Forza.net sets two dates. The Standard and Deluxe Editions unlock on January 26, 2027. Premium Edition owners get early access from January 21, five days earlier, which is one day more than the four days of early access Xbox and PC players got before the May 19 launch.
The first Premium Expansion lands on all platforms on January 21 too. Playground hasn't named it or said where it takes place yet. A free content update for everyone ships alongside the PS5 release and the expansion, with details promised closer to launch.
The PS5 version was developed by Panic Button, the studio behind the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5, working with Playground and Turn 10. According to Playground, the pre-order trailer was captured on a base PS5 in a 4K, 30 frames per second Quality mode, and a 60 fps Performance mode is also available. The post says nothing about PS5 Pro enhancements.

Forza Horizon 6 PS5 price for each edition
The PlayStation Store listing shows three editions in the US store, checked on October 9, 2026. Prices in other regions weren't part of the announcement.
| Edition | US price | What you get | Plays from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | US$69.99 | The full game | January 26, 2027 |
| Deluxe | US$99.99 | Game, Welcome Pack, Car Pass | January 26, 2027 |
| Premium | US$119.99 | Game, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, VIP Membership, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 | January 21, 2027 |
Any edition pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store adds a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 to your garage once you finish the prologue. Playground also offers a Premium Upgrade for Standard and Deluxe owners and an Expansions Bundle; the US store listed a Premium Add-Ons Bundle as unavailable, with no price, when we checked. Expansion 2 has no date beyond "a later date."
Is Forza Horizon 6 cross-play with Xbox and PC?
Yes. Playground says the PS5 version supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, and that player-made content (EventLab races, liveries, tuning setups and more) is shared across platforms from day one. A disc version will be sold at supporting retailers.
Why January counts as a delay
On September 7, in its British Automotive update post, Playground wrote that Forza Horizon 6 would release on PS5 "later this year." A month later the date is January 26, 2027. The studio's announcement doesn't call it a delay or give a reason.
The date didn't arrive cold, either. billbil-kun, who reports release dates and prices for the French deals site Dealabs, published January 26, 2027 before the announcement, as Insider Gaming covered on October 7. The official post matched that date.
Our read, not Playground's: tying the PS5 launch to the first expansion gives PlayStation players a bigger first week and gives Xbox and PC players a reason to come back on the same day. It also fits Microsoft putting its biggest games on rival consoles, a strategy that runs through Xbox's recent leadership statements and this week's other big Xbox story.
What happens next
Pre-orders are open now. Watch for the expansion's name and setting, the free update's contents, and a PS5 Pro answer before January. More racing and Xbox news lives in our video games section.
Bottom line
If you're on PS5, Forza Horizon 6 arrives January 26, 2027, or January 21 if you pay US$119.99 for Premium. We think Premium is only worth the extra US$50 over Standard if you want both expansions and the car packs, since the five days of early access are the smallest part of it. If you play on Xbox or PC, January 21 is the date that matters to you: that's when Expansion 1 and the free update land.
